Moderating spam is one of the
important jobs that our moderators have. Unchecked, the volume of spam that
gets posted can quickly multiply. Here is a list of what we consider spam:
When the same message has come
through this group several times.
The message is posted solely for advertising events or items
for sale from an otherwise inactive member.
No other group participation other than posting ads.
When the only content of the email
is directed at an item for sale on eBay or any other sales oriented website.
Advertising their list that is in direct competition and blatantly imitating
what we do.
09-05-06: Please refrain from posting
to COC things you're looking to buy. This only encourages sellers to respond
through the list and that increases the SPAM. There are two lists that focus
on buying, selling and the behind the scenes of buying and selling and they
are:

Only those vendors who offer a
discount, participate on the list, and donate to one of our charities can
advertise here. ClayAlley is the
official vendor for CITY-o-Clay.
A general rule of thumb is, "When in doubt...ask." You can ask any of our
moderators if you are unsure. Members that spam will be put on Moderated
status. We will write them off-list and tell them we consider it spam. They
will remain on moderated status until they respond to our personal email and
agree with our spam policy.
You can put your website or ebay link in your signature at the end of your
posts. Just keep it to 5 lines or so or it gets to be an eyesore and folks
will just not look at it.
