Member's Reviews:
This is an excellent book if you're wanting to learn how
to make a Christi
Friesen-style dragon. It's easy to follow, pretty complete in instructions,
and she has a very playful tone which makes it entertaining, as well.
She
takes you through the steps for making a little dragon critter that
looks
just like the ones she makes.
If, however, you're looking for a book loaded with techniques that you
can
add to your repertoire, this book is a bit limited in that category.
The
technique she uses for imbedding her gems and stones is worth knowing
(but not too hard to figure out on your own) and most of the texturing,
antiquing, and embellishing instructions are pretty common techniques
although she does have a way of using them that makes her pieces very
unique. I would have liked to see more input from her in light of how
she decides on a particular design element (color, wing position, etc.).

Overall: if you're wanting to learn how to make dragons
that look like Christi Friesen's, this is the perfect book; if you're
interested in
something that includes a bunch of techniques that you can tuck under
your belt and pull out for other projects, you'll probably want to go
for a meatier book.
