CITY-Leaders:
For scheduling training there's a couple of things we need to know.
(1) Which CITY-Leaders are not yet in a Moderator Team? We need to
schedule training for the behind the scenes settings.
(2) Of the CITY-Leaders who are not yet part of a Moderator Team
which CITY list are you interested in helping out? Have you
contacted the Moderator team of that list as to your interest? If
there's already enough Moderators on that team which other CITY
lists do you have interest in helping after you've received
training?
(3) Which CITY-Lists do not yet have a Moderator Team?
(4) Which Moderator Teams do not yet have a ModTeam List created?
(5) Of the Moderator Teams that do have a ModTeam List is there
anyone who needs assistance with training of the team members? If
your team is comfortable with doing training in-house, be sure that
the new Moderator is part of this list.
When considering a Moderator for your team it is important to double
check to see if the applicant is part of CITY-Leaders.
Mod Team Leaders: as seen with the BeaderMod situation, there was an
additional wrinkle to the problem. The person in question joined
CITY-Leaders on 1/14 and unsubbed on 1/16. It was after she left
CITY-Leaders that she pressed to become a Moderator for the Beader's
list. By not being part of CITY-Leaders but being on a Mod team a
volunteer can claim "ignorance" of the guidelines. This opens doors
to problems already covered in our guidelines.
There's reasons why all Moderators need to be part of this list, not
only for training but for orientation. Training is important in
order to do our best behind the scenes as possible. It is through
orientation we share the philosophic goals of the entire CITY List
Family. These philosophic goals are what will set our lists apart
from any other in Yahoo Groups.
All Moderators on all Mod Teams need to be part of CITY-Leaders in
order to know who are the volunteers within The CITY List family.
The database for the CITY lists and their Mod Team needs to be
checked before adding a new Moderator and updated when a new
Moderator is added.
This allows us all to see which Moderators are on too many Mod Teams
and liable to get stressed out. It also allows the new CITY-Leaders
an opportunity to to see which Mod Teams could use another
volunteer.
We're aiming for a quality experience for both Moderators and list
members and a Moderator who is on too many Mod Teams will have
difficulty as time goes on to give or receive a quality experience.
I have only COC to refer to, but lately we've been having list
members mention that they never read a negative word, that they feel
nurtured, that they appreciate the way we handle things like getting
over THE FEAR of exploring a medium.
Creating a list that is free from negative energy, that is protected
from spam, that promotes activity in a stress free manner, that new
list members are welcome, that difficulties are smoothed over in a
way that is fair and equitable, all this is part of a philosophy
that is at the core of The CITY List Family.
To become aware of this philosophy, to discuss how different
situations are handled in a way that doesn't cause more negativity
than the problems they seek to resolve, this is why being on CITY-
Leaders and getting training and orientation is important.
That's why this is being sent out as a Special Notice. This will
also be added to our CITY-Leader index. A link to the CITY-Leader's
index will be added to our home page so future applicants can read
what has been developed here before joining.
Thanks for reading down this far, I look forward to getting the new
CITY-Leaders trained and this is part of orientation.
xoxo
