CITY-Leaders:
In a previous post I mentioned a list member on COC who in a year
has sent 58 posts to the list, only 3 of which were not spam for her
dolls. She does not participate on the list. She cross posts spams
to many lists, which is a violation in list courtesy. She's on NO
Mail. I've heard complaints from MSAT for years about her so it's
not just the clay list that her name has come up. She's been
discussed on the other leader list I was on as well.
So, we put her on moderation on COC because we're initiating a
strict anti-spam policy. The anti-spam policy letter that was
drafted in COCModSquad has been loaded into the files here, so if
you need to use something like this for your list, feel free. It is
an option, not a requirement. Use it if you wish.
So when her post for her dolls came in again today, the same post
that she cross posts to all the clay and mini lists everywhere, I
asked the COCModSquad if someone could write to her and send her our
anti-spam policy. Off list so she can save face. We're being nice
about it. I am "up to here" with her and wouldn't be the best person
to contact her.
Well this is what we got back in return. She has a block on her
email address stating that she's trying to control spam so to get in
touch with her you have to ask to be put on her list of "ok email
addresses".
Now why do I feel like the RCA Dog? Head cocked over to one side
muttering "arf?".
Oh... so she can cross post to a boatload of lists the same spam
time and time again, but she makes effort to control the spam coming
to her so we can't contact her to stop spamming us?
We are voting now to "show her the door". She has already come up in
discussion before because we discussed whether to put her on
moderated status.
If we were to be able to open a dialogue with her about our anti-
spam policy it would be different. But this reply from her was
really the last straw. The COCModSquad is stunned with the nerve of
that woman.
So we're "showing her the door".
The COCModSquad thought it would be a good thing to share with the
CITY-Leaders. I wanted to share with all of you how much we consider
a situation before giving a list member the "heave-ho out you go": A
bunch of email, discussion of her in our meetings, one of our newer
mods got to put her on moderated status for their practice. It's not
something we do lightly, but when we do it's a consensus amongst the
whole team.
