Start a list for your Mod Squad

List-Owners, as you build your Moderator Team, create a separate
list where all of you can discuss topics that are specific to
running your lists: Swaps, brain storming on new events and
projects, questions about first posters...is this spam or am I
crazy? That sort of thing that doesn't need to come through this
list.

This system has worked very well for the ClayArtMods in the past.
Having a list where we can chat amongst ourselves also gave us the
opportunity to give each other support. If one of your mods needs a
break, had a hard patch to go through, they can post to the mod list
and ask moral support and for their team members to cover them while they get settled.

There was a hard lesson learned in this. The ClayArtMods were
chugging away and we had our mod list and a place to voice our
concerns and be vulnerable. The old list founder just "had" to be
part of that list. I thought, why not, she can learn a thing about
building a good team. Once there she began to undermine my
leadership of the clayartmods, nit picking on them about things we
all had agreed to do for each other.

That was the beginning of the end of my relationship with the old
list family and the association with the old list founder. She
crossed the line in the sand by making the clayartmods feel bad. She
also spoiled that list for now the clayartmods didn't feel like they
had a space to voice their concerns about being part of that list
family in general. So we had to make an alternate list, clayartteam,
where the old list founder wasn't invited. That's when we decided
we're going to leave the old list family and create a new one where
all the hard lessons we learned can be addressed ahead of time and
circumvent those unfortunate occurrences.

This will not happen on your Mod Squad lists. I do not expect to be
part of your team's list. I trust you to run your lists responsibly
and support your teams with the same sort of love and nurturing you
get here on CITY-Leaders.

Thanks,

xoxo
