It's a Line Dance Not A Sprint

CITY-Leaders:

I want all of us to take a deep breath...

What we're building here can be done at a pace that doesn't make us
crazy, or crazier than we were before we started this task.

This is not a Sprint where we have to go bursting down the track,
competing with one another, giving it our all because the track is
short. No way. We got a long haul ahead of us if we're lucky.

Some of you who are building new lists and on individual email for
COC, put COC on Digest or No Mail until you're happy with your list.

COCModSquad, you know you can delegate some COC services to an eager volunteer, who's just aching to be of service. To hold on to too
much is prideful. Letting folks help you is a blessing. First you
got to admit you're getting burnt out.

CITY-Leaders in training, if you've not adopted a list or a task,
and training hasn't been scheduled, relax. If you're motivated read
the training logs. It's the week end.

R&R folks. Time for some Rest and Relaxation.

There's nothing life or death about what we're doing.

If you're building a new list, have FUN getting a nifty picture for
your home page, goof around with different fonts, take your time in
finding links to put into your "Links" storage.

Jeese Louise, it took a dozen people to work for five years making
CITY-o-Clay and we still have things we could take more advantage of
like polls. But we're not in a race. If you don't recognize the
competition there is no race. There's only having fun.

Oh I got it, this ain't a race, it's more of a line dance.

LOL, The Texas Two Step and Cotton Eyed Joe.

Let's allow the week end folks to get caught up, let's work on our
lists, or don't as you desire. I don't want any of you to do
something that feels like work. (Cue Manard G. Crebbs to
yelp "WORK?!")

First and foremost CITY philosophy is to do what you love and love
what you do. That means knowing when to take a break, potter about
with your house plants, groom the horses. I'd like that, only
groomed a horse once and it was right relaxing for the both of us.

There is no expectation on my part that you all create a list, join
a list team, and start doing a thousand things all at once, when the
laundry needs to be done and there's wood to chop. This is the
prioritization I recommend:

God (Or the Supreme Being of your Choice) First
Family (Or your Significant Other and Best Friends) Second.

The rest can take a number and stand in line, it'll be done when
it's done, but it won't be done with pinched brows, heavy sighs,
rolling of the eyes, pulling hair or loosing sleep. I got more than
my full 8 hours last night, I'm pacing myself for the long haul.

Anything related to this list is done at a pace that does not take
the fun out of it. It's NoraJean's Selfish Rule #1... got to love
yourself enough to be concerned for your health, both mental and
physical. Regular eats and Regular Sleeps. Things get done when they
get done.

I'm rather Rastafarian in that respect...

Time be Time, Mon, all else is Babylon.

I may be doing a bunch of things and putting in long hours and
that's because

I DO NOT WORK A DAY JOB

I DO NOT HAVE CHILDREN AT HOME

I have a husband who is really autonomous and he has zero interest
in how the apartment looks, as long as I'm happy and busy then he
can get busy with his interests and be happy too. See, we're both
obsessive with our electronic activity, he plays EverQuest, if I
weren't doing this I'd be talking to myself. So thank you all for
helping me stay sane by giving me the best bunch of electronic pals
a gal can have.

You're all doing a great job, we're kicking some serious internet
butt.

I'm not setting the pace for all y'all, but I am setting an example
right now... use it with your list members and moderator team.

Relax, chill out, we got time to train, be trained, work on setting
up our lists, recruit moderators. We all plan to die of extreme old
age being endlessly annoying to our caregivers.

Ease up there CITY-Leaders and pace yourself.

I feel a rising stress level with the new mods, new list owners. I'm
telling you now, a cup of peppermint and chamomile tea, take a
break from the computer, spend some quality time with the folks who
are present in your life right now.

Ya, that's a great suggestion, go hug the nearest living creature
close to you. Be it your spouse or your pet. Reconnect with them.

Ok? I don't want folks flipping out saying "I can't take it any
more" and go running down the street naked, not unless someone takes
pictures and sends it through this list. LOL

xoxo
